PREDATOR & WAXY COMMANDER (OILED NUBUCK & SUEDE)

Traditionally used for boots, these oiled skins are known for their hard wearing surface. Unlike our other waxed leathers in stock, the Horween Predator and Waxy Commander has substantially more oil in the finish giving an almost tacky feel at the surface. The oils provide the surface with extra protection against heavy use and repeated exposure to moisture.

The two however very different due to one being nubuck (sanded from the top) and the other suede (finished from the flesh side). The Waxy Commander (suede) is not suitable for goods requiring thin leather construction.

Oilskin colour swatch.

Tannery: Horween (Predator) & Charles F. Stead & Co (Waxy Commander).
Temper: Firm (Predator), medium (Waxy Commander).
Surface: Heavily oiled, almost grippy. Noticeable pull up finish.
Tanning: Chrome tanned.
Patina: Mild with little change in colour unless heavily exposed to dirt. Very durable but will show marks and scratches.
Other notes: Very rugged and hard wearing. Naturally repels water due to heavy oiled finish.

All of our products are hand made with traditional leather crafting techinques. They are cut, saddle stitched and burnished by hand. Our stock of leathers are sourced from the finest tanneries around the world. We use full grain leathers which shows its natural qualities and will have subtle differences between every hide. The combination of these processes results in a unique feeling between every product.
